Humanities and Coastal Hazards

Having enjoyed the highly enriching summer school on coastal hazards together with young colleagues from altogether four continents, I have now finally fulfilled my promise : My blog on Humanities and Ocean Research has just been published on oceanblogs.org.

On this blog, you will find a number of pages that explain why and in which way the humanities can add important facets and even act as catalyst in ocean research and maritime policy. On the page Humanist Ocean Research you will find a broad spectrum of ocean research topics where humanities can be integrated in a fruitful way, and the page Humanist Projects offers a few concrete examples where this is already being done.  A certain focus has, as you can guess, been put on coastal hazards and the maritime disasters in history and present time.

Enjoy!

Best regards, Linda Maria Koldau
