New Blood arrived!!!

It’s been almost a week that we couldn’t share anything, but we had very science related(!) reasons:

There was a shift change of Master’s students on Tuesday in KOSMOS Town. We (Rafael, Shawn, Dorthe, Serra) were warmly welcomed to this big KOSMOS Family! Luckily for us, end of the same week was the middle of the sampling schedule. Traditionally that means a celebration called “BergFest”. The name comes for the fact that half of the project is completed, and we are at the peak of the project! More importantly: a good reason for a big barbeque and some party!

For this big event, some of our brave and curious new students went out for fishing! With the experience and guidance of the old group members of our project, they managed to get enough fish to feed everyone. 🙂
As you see, day by day this group of scientists are becoming more and more self-sustaining.

So, the party day started with a very positive science meeting with all the participants. We learnt more about all the interesting things that are happening in our mesocosms so far.

Brain work made us hungry and we joined our forces to get ready for the BBQ. Different from the rest of the world, in Bergen, we were thankful to be able to do the grill outside because there was no rain and even a blue sky with sunshine!!

With that power injection of the BergFest, the KOSMOS 2015 group will go full force for the second half of the project! Wait for more to come! 🙂
