I am a staff scientist at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel. My research focuses on jellyfish ecology: how they interact with their environment, how they become successful invasive and what they do in the deep sea. In my blog I write about my research and about interesting things around jellyfish.
I have a question about our main jellyfish in the baltic sea Aurelia: where are they? I have only found a few adults in April but they were more dead than alive…and there were also not so many Ephyra in March, but there were new ones in May.
I’m living in Eckernförde and I’m working at the ostsee infocenter.I would be glad, if you could give me an answer.
With the best regards
sorry for my delay, i was busy with a new project!
i will write another post very soon about this exceptionally “jellyfish free” year. shortly, it could be better explained by the lack of asexual reproduction in the sessile polyps.
I am Syafyudin Yusuf, Hasanuddin University in tropical Indonesian Archipelago Sea, Itentested to study the Jellyfish Bio-ecology. In our site, only raining season jellyfish apperance wiyh big size and then fisherman catch them to dry and selled.
If there will opportunity to follow your project as research partner, It will be good to study with your team.

i have sent you an email some weeks ago!
Hi i’m Dasha from Malaysia and currently doing my final year project on PUFA analysis in Jellyfish. I would like to know whether is there any articles or research has been done on elongase and desaturase fatty acid analysis in cnidarian because it’s really hard to find research articles related to PUFA in jellyfish. I would be glad, if you could help me. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your interest in my Blog. FA analysis of JF is the current focus of our small group. A manuscript will be submitted to the Frontiers soon, so I hope I could be of help later on when published our data.
