Eis in Sicht. Gestern hatten wir den Treffpunkt f\u00fcr die Eisbrecher-Karawane erreicht. Mit dem Schlachtruf “Poooolloooonaiseee” ging es aufgereiht zusammen mit drei anderen Schiffen um 12 Uhr UTC auf durch die mit kleinen Eisschollen und Eisbergchen best\u00fcckte Wilkizkistra\u00dfe. Kamera und Fotoaparate liefen kurzzeitig zum H\u00f6hepunkt der Expedition auf. P\u00fcnktlich zum Mittagessen lag der Eisknoten der Artkis hinter uns, und “die Macher” (Ozeanographen) legten los mit ihrem Lieblingsspielzeug, der UCTD.
\nNeben der Forschung kommt auch die Abendplanung langsam ein wenig in Fahrt. Nach einer ersten Gitarren-Nacht mit hervorragender Beschallung von Liliya und Andrey haben wir auch die Sauna an Bord nochmal ausgiebig getestet. Am letzten Abend wurde dann das schiffsinterne Komb\u00fcsenkino er\u00f6ffnet, das nach dem allabendlichen Meeting den russischen Klassiker “Kin Dza Dza” zeigte.\u00a0 Morgen um 2 Uhr UTC steht dann in aller Fr\u00fch die erste komplette Station mit allem Drum und Dran auf dem Zettel. Bis dahin hoffen wir, dass das kleine Grippewellchen, das im Moment ein paar Leuten zu schaffen macht, wieder abflaut.<\/p>\n

Ice in sight. Yesterday we reached the meeting point for the icebreaker convoy. At 12:00 UTC we passed through small ice floes and icebergs in Vilkitsky Strait together with three other vessels, everybody rather busily taking pictures. At lunch time, we had left the ice trap of the Arctic behind and the “men of action” (the oceanographers) started with their favorite pastime \u2013 working the UCTD.
\nOur evenings, too, have become quite entertaining. Not only did Liliya and Andrey give a first live concert with guitar music and singing, but we also tried the sauna once again. Last night after the regular evening meeting, the ship’s galley cinema opened, showing the Russian classic “Kin Dza Dza”. Tomorrow at 2 a.m. UTC, our first complete station is due when all our equipment will finally be in use. We hope that by then, those of us who have come down with a cold will have recovered completely.<\/p>\n
