Jasmin und Anne organisierten bereits zahlreiche Forschungsfahrten f\u00fcr den Fachbereich Dynamik des Ozeanbodens<\/a> \u2013 ob nach Papua-Neuguinea zur Erforschung von Flankenkollapsen an Vulkaninseln, ins Mittelmeer auf der Suche nach submarinen S\u00fc\u00dfwasser Aquiferen oder bereits 2015 die erste GeoSEA Ausfahrt SO244<\/a> in den Pazifik. Doch selten waren so viele Vorabreiten wie f\u00fcr diese Expedition notwendig. Gesundheitserkl\u00e4rung f\u00fcr Ecuador, Mobilit\u00e4tspass f\u00fcr Chile, Kopien aller Impfnachweise f\u00fcr die Leitstelle, Unterst\u00fctzung bei den Booster- und Gelbfieber-Impfungen, Organisation der PCR-Test in Kiel und in Ecuador, Hotel- Quarant\u00e4ne\u2026 Die Liste ist lang und nichts darf \u00fcbersehen werden. Ein b\u00fcrokratischer Marathon, der bereits vor Reiseantritt gemeinsam mit Fahrtleiterin Heidrun Kopp absolviert wurde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201eAber nun ist die Vorfreude riesig und es kann losgehen! Wir kehren mit der SONNE zur\u00fcck in den Pazifik! \u201c, freuen sich Anne und Jasmin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Seit 2015 \u00fcberwacht ein mobiles autonomes Netzwerk von Meeresbodenstationen (GeoSEA<\/a>) den tektonisch spannungsreichen Meeresboden vor der K\u00fcste Nordchiles. Nun werden die Ger\u00e4te auf der Expedition SO288 mit dem deutschen Forschungsschiff SONNE geborgen und zus\u00e4tzliche neue Daten gewonnen. Der autonome Tauchroboter ROV KIEL6000 hilft nicht nur beim Aufnehmen der Ger\u00e4te, der Bergung, sondern soll auch \u2013 in Kombination mit weiteren aktuellen Messungen \u2013 zus\u00e4tzliche Einblicke er\u00f6ffnen. Bureaucratic final sprint before departure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jasmin and Anne have already organized numerous research trips for the Department of Ocean Floor Dynamics<\/a> – whether to Papua New Guinea to research flank collapses on volcanic islands, to the Mediterranean in search of submarine freshwater aquifers or the first GeoSEA SO244<\/a> in the Pacific in 2015. However, seldomly so many preparations were necessary as for this expedition. Health declaration for Ecuador, mobility pass for Chile, copies of all vaccination certificates, support with booster and yellow fever vaccinations, organization of the PCR test in Kiel and in Ecuador, hotel quarantine and much more … The list is long. A bureaucratic marathon that was already completed together with the chief scientist Heidrun Kopp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut now the anticipation is huge and we are looking forward to boarding! Finally, we are returning to the Pacific with the SONNE!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since 2015, the GeoSEA measuring system has been monitoring the tectonically active sea floor off the coast of northern Chile. The equipment is now recovered on the expedition SO288 with the German research vessel SONNE and additional data obtained. The remotely-operated underwater vehicle ROV KIEL6000 is not only helping to retrieve the instruments, but will also \u2013 in combination with other new measurements \u2013 provide additional insights into the study area.
