Furthermore, a heavy downpour at night brought the second endurance test for our modules. We had not closed the boxes in the evening in order to check the computer stability and we were thus very anxious to see if the exhibits had survived the rain. When we arrived in the exhibition rooms, we saw that the modules had been covered with plastic sheeting. This was all thanks to our night guard, employed by the DIWH SP, who was so thoughtful as to protect the boxes. We are delighted: All modules are running as they should, only the reliability and stability of the power supply remains a problem.

The technicians Manu and Christian (who also consulted his father-in-law) continue their work directly and lay meters of cable from other rooms to the exhibition. The excitement mounts. Let’s see if everything runs smoothly until the afternoon. The guides are wearing the Future Ocean – Oceano do futuro t-shirts for the first time and are practicing their facts on a few passing visitors. Leopoldo, who we had invited to join the exhibition with his initiative “memorias do mar”, arrives at noon with seven banners fresh from the printer portraying the projects and the goals of the various activities. They fit in extraordinarily well with our exhibits and are a sensible supplement to our topics.

From noon onward the time flies and we are not only sweating from the tropical heat: the tables that Christian ordered are delivered, the Future Ocean posters and flyers arrive and have to be distributed, the sound system and microphones are prepared for the evening. Our banners and those from the German Year are positioned. The last details are straightened, monitors and exhibits wiped, the four meter long tuna hung up on the wall, cluttered materials stowed away. Done! Everything looks perfect. And the electricity? The green light is given at 15:30 and one hour before arrival, the power supplied is stable. Everyone is relieved. Now off to the hotel to get changed and return. The opening ceremony may begin.

Friederike, Emanuel and Gerd

$(document).ready(function() {
/*
 * Simple image gallery. Mai 2014, Dragao do Mar, 9:00 bis 15 Uhr

German version: see below Fortaleza, May 28th 2014, Dragao do Mar, 9:00 to 15:00 Today’s program is the official opening ceremony and there is still a lot to do.
