After a long phase of finalizing the detailed planning, the call for tenders for construction of the OSCM started on 7 February 2014. A month later, on 7 March,\u00a013 companies interested in this project were invited to visit the future premises of the Centre in direct neighborhood to the INDP. The deadline for submitting proposals was 24 March, with 11 companies going into the race.<\/p>\n

Presently, a committee consisting of members of the MIEM (Cape Verde Ministry of Infrastructure and Maritime Economy), the INDP and GEOMAR, is engaged with evaluating the proposals and choosing a finalist. The construction of the OSCM and the Foundation Stone Ceremony will presumably take place in early June.<\/p>\n

First preparatory steps can already be seen.<\/p>\n

The old CVOO labs have been demolished (on an interim basis\u00a0lab equipment
\nwill be\u00a0allocated inside the INDP), the INDP site has been cleaned and\u00a0all
\ncontainers have been put into row next to the INDP entrance.<\/p>\n
